CBC Russia 2016

National Final 

28 May 2016, the finals of the national Creative Business Cup competition took place at the Educational Centre Grand Workplace. For the fourth year, thanks to Creative Industries Agency, a Russian start-up gets an opportunity to participate in the Creative Business Cup and to compete for the title of the best creative entrepreneur in the world and for the money prizes. In 2016, Russia will be represented by Mikhail Bronski, entrepreneur and artist from Archangelsk region, creator of project Bronski tea, which combines both creativity and social impact. The mission of the project is to develop and preserve Russian village traditions and involve local citizens in the production process.

Competition

All-Russian national Creative Business Cup competition, conducted by Creative Industries Agency in the spring of 2016, attracted entrepreneurs and innovators in such creative sectors as advertising, architecture, design, gastronomy, performing arts, fashion, computer games and software, multimedia, arts and crafts, literature and publishing – from all over country.

The evaluation criteria included, among others, originality, creativity and market potential. 7 strongest creative entrepreneurs were selected to compete in the finals.

Jury

The jury members of the national competition finals were creative industries experts, and representatives of public and business structures, including:

  • Victor Sedov, Director-General, Center for Entrepreneurship
  • Maria Stashenko, Founder and CEO of the Wonderfull project lab, Course director of Design Management program in British Higher School of Art and Design
  • Elena Zelentsova, Vice-president, Skolkovo Foundation
  • Fedor Murachkovskiy - CEO Planeta.ru
  • Eugene Volk founder of Workplace, spaces across Russia for self-employed people in fashion, education and beauty
  •  Olga Polishchuk - Executive Director, Strelka Institute
  • Mikhail Erman - Acting Director, Startup advisor, Higher School of Economics Business Incubator

Program

As part of the finals there were presentations of seven finalists, the audience voting, buffet dinner, music and special startup market. Katrina Menshikova, a Russian consultant and business trainer in the field of creative industries and creative economy, acted as a host of the event. The final was attended by over 100 guests – creative entrepreneurs, investors, representatives of government agencies and cultural organizations.
