How critical are creative professionals towards themselves? What are core mistakes of design start-ups? How deep education and creative industries are interconnected? Can it be that creative project influence a discourse in humanities` researches?

The mission of Cockpit Arts is to  support and promote talented craftspeople / designer-makers from all backgrounds through all stages of their career. Cockpit Arts strive to raise standards in the contemporary craft and design sectors, making an important contribution to the UK cultural landscape and economy.

Ellen has overall responsibility for Cockpit Arts’ business and professional development services. She has worked with over 300 designer-makers to grow their businesses. Ellen is an accredited business coach and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Birmingham and a postgraduate diploma in administrative management. She heads Cockpit Arts’ sector research projects and is a commentator on issues relating to designer-maker businesses.

Mark Penson, Deputy Head of School of Social Science

Kingston University

Mark holds a master degree in cultural studies. He teaches in the areas of Cult film, Hollywood Cinema and Gender and Sexuality and his lectures have a big success among students. Mark Penson is currently lead supervisor for a project on fans and writers of 'slash' fiction.
