3plet project represents Russia at the International Final of the Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen

The International Final of the Creative Business Cup took place from 17-19 November 2014 in Copenhagen as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Russia was represented by the 3plet team (Moscow)

The International Final of the Creative Business Cup took place from 17-19 November 2014 in Copenhagen as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Russia was represented by the 3plet team (Moscow).

Creative entrepreneurs from 15 regions around the country took part in the All-Russian qualifying round of the competition organised by the Creative Industries Agency. On 9 August 2014, the Russian Final of the Creative Business Cup competition was held in Moscow, at which the authors of the five best business concepts presented their business ideas to an expert panel.

The winner of the Russian stage of the competition was Valeriy Mifodovskiy for his digital music publishing platform 3plet.

The International Final of the competition took place in Copenhagen (Denmark) from 17-19 November 2014 as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The Competition and the Final were organised by the Danish Ministry of Business and Growth and the Centre for Cultural and Experience Economy (CKO).

The jury for the final was made up of international experts in the field of creative industries, including:

  • Scott Blackwell (USA), Academic Lead for Western Europe, Microsoft.
  • Christina Boutari (Greece), Marketing Director & Exports Manager, Boutari Wineries S.A. Amy Cosper (USA), Vice President/Editor in Chief, Entrepreneur Magazine.

  • Edward Jung (USA), Founder, Intellectual Ventures.

  • Håkan Nordkvist (Sweden), Head of Sustainability Innovation, IKEA Group.
  • Flavia Simon (Brazil), Head of Consumer Marketing, Google.
  • Christian Stadil (Denmark), Owner, Thornico A/S.
  • Daniela Terminel (Mexico), Vice President, EMEA, Endeavor Global.
  • Halla Tomasdottir (Iceland), Founder & Lead Partner, Sisters Capital.
  • Mei Tong (China), Executive Director, HOPU Investments.
  • Liz Wald (USA), Vice President International, Indiegogo.
  • Ted Zoller (USA), Director, UNC Center for Entrepreneurship and Senior Fellow, Kauffman Foundation.

The Final’s content-rich programme enabled the Creative Business Cup’s participants and guests to establish professional partnerships, present their products at the Market Place and their projects to investors, take part in numerous masterclasses, and attend lectures and presentations by international experts. The first day of the Final was as an orientation day, and also the day that the 3plet team presented their project to the international jury. On the second day, participants were able to present their projects as part of the Investor Board. The third day, however, was the most exciting: the semi-finalists, finalists and then, at long last, winners of the Creative Business Cup 2014 were announced.

As well as special events for the national winners, the programme of the Creative Business Cup’s International Final also included the Startup Days programme, made up of lectures, seminars and masterclasses such as:

  • «Why entrepreneurship and innovation go hand in hand», by Edward Jung, Founder of Intellectual Ventures, USA

  • «How to get attention on the global media market», by Christian Have, Owner and Creative Director at Have Communication
  • «How does Ikea solve innovation challenges», by Håkan Nordkvist, Head of Sustainability Innovation, Ikea, Sweden
  • «LEGO Serious Play. Build Your 1.000 Day Aspiration» by Laila Pawlak, Founder & Chief ExperienceOfficer at DARE2Mansion
  • «Getting from No to Yes, How Crowd Funding is Changing Finance»by Liz Wald, VP of International Indiegogo, USA

The Final consisted of several stages of selection: during the first stage, every national finalist presented their creative businesses to members of the jury. The experts then selected representatives from 16 countries to advance to the semifinal (the shortlist). Next, those on the shortlist gave an open presentation of their business concepts, after which the finalists were announced.The five finalists were made up of participants from Poland, Germany, Latvia, Austria and Morocco,and the top places were awarded as follows:

  • 1st place went to the participant from Poland for the project Professor Why;
  • 2nd place went to the team from Latvia for the project GIGI BLOKS;
  • 3rd place went to the Austrian project Pocket Sky.

The Creative Industries Agency is the official operator of the international competition for creative entrepreneurs, the Creative Business Cup, in Russia.
